We always think its good to know the basics before choosing a holiday cottage, and so you can make the best and most informed choice for your needs. This page provides all that we think is good to know and important to our guests, but if you have further questions which aren't covered by this page, then please do contact us and we will be more than pleased to help!
Wirksworth Cottages
Wirksworth Cottages can be small and have restricted head height in certain places which is also a big part of their charm! We include room dimensions for your information (via our 'amenities by room' page), and encourage guests to familiarise themselves with any areas where they may encounter head height restriction and to ensure no unwanted head bangs!
Location
Fryers Cottage is located in the very centre of Wirksworth which has an array of different amenities on the doorstep. The full property address will be provided upon reservation.

Babies & Children
Fryers Cottage welcomes infants and children, however due to the character of the Cottage, there are several potential hazards which Guests should pay close attention to during their stay with younger children. Guests are therefore asked to closely supervise infants and children's safety at all times whilst within the property. Particular attention and diligence should be shown with cleaning product accessibility, the cooking stove and the log burner (when either are in use), children's independent use of the stairs, restricted head room spaces, steps between rooms and other trip hazards. Due to space limitation, there is no cot available, but a high chair is provided should this be required.
Dogs
Fryers Cottage is strictly not suitable for medium or large dogs. We do however welcome small house trained dogs. We kindly ask all doggy guests refrain from sitting on any furniture in the property in order to protect the integrity of the furnishings and fabrics, and to avoid Guests incurring additional cleaning costs. We do provide a complimentary small dog bed, dog bowls, dog wet wipes, and small towels to assist you keeping your dog dry and clean. You may also use the baby gate to contain your dog in the kitchen area during the night.
Our Service to you
When you stay at Fryers Cottage, you will be provided with a dedicated point of contact, who will be available to help you with any questions you might have or support that you may require during your stay. They will be available to telephone, WhatsApp or email during day time hours and can visit the property during your stay should any issues arise which require their support. We want you to have a really enjoyable and comfortable stay at Fryers Cottage. In the unlikely event you do have an issue or complaint, small or large then please do speak to us so we can resolve this for you.
Accessibility
Unfortunately Fryers Cottage is not wheel chair friendly predominantly due to narrow gangways and steps between rooms. Fryers Cottage is suitable for all Guests with reduced or limited mobility, who are able to climb a small staircase (to access the first floor) and navigate low level steps between rooms with ease.
Shared Guest Consumables
Fryers Cottage has shared consumables which are for the use and benefit of all Guests during their stay and periodically replaced when required. We kindly ask Guests not to remove unused consumables from the Cottage on their departure, and so that future Guests can benefit from the same.
Security & Keys
Guests must remember to leave the property with their keys at all times, as closing the door will lock the door from the outside. Fryers Cottage is located in a safe area where crime events are very rare. The cottage does not however have a burglar alarm and Guests are asked not to leave the property without ensuring it is secure. This will ensure guests belongings and property contents are kept safe.
Heating & Smoke Alarms
The Cottage central heating system is operated by an energy efficient Nest system which is also connected to a network of smoke alarms. It is advisable to ventilate the cottage using the farm house door when cooking creates excessive amounts of steam and or smoke, as this will prevent the fire alarms from being triggered. The thermostat can be found in the living room. The thermostat will identify when the property is unoccupied and move in to eco mode to save energy.
The additional log burner located in the living room can also be used, and complimentary logs and fire starters are provided for all Guests.
Noise, Parties & Neighbours
We request consideration and common sense are always applied in good measure when it comes to noise, and especially noise during anti social hours. We kindly ask that you keep noise to a minimum immediately outside the cottage during anti social hours so as not to disturb the immediate neighbours. Whilst guests are welcome to have visitors during the daytime, parties are strictly prohibited. We strongly discourage loud music or noise which can be heard beyond the interior of the Cottage during the daytime out of respect to neighbours, but this type of noise is strictly prohibited between the hours of 9pm and 8am.
Contents and Damages
Fryers Cottage has a detailed inventory of its contents. This is maintained at each point of turn around and prior to new Guests arriving. Please inform us if you accidently damage or break any contents in Fryers Cottage, and please do not throw away any broken or damaged items.
Cleaning
The cleaning of Fryers Cottage is undertaken to very high standards which also meets standard Covid safety requirements, ensuring all frequently touched surfaces are cleaned in conjunction with the rest of the property. If commercial cleaning is required, then Guests will be liable for the cost of this commercial cleaning. We are aware accidents can always happen, so please do inform us of any accidental damage caused before checking out.
