Drinking Wine

Food & Drink

There are numerous options for eating & drinking, and all within walking distance of Fryers cottage.  There are also plenty of restaurants and pubs slightly further afield in neighbouring Cromford, Matlock, & Matlock Bath which we recommend visiting.  Our tried and tested Wirksworth favourites are summarised below.

Local Eateries

Le Mistral

A delightful candle-lit French bistro, a short 2-minute walk from the cottage.  Enjoy home-cooked delights from their set menu, a ‘la carte menu, and selection of daily specials.  Also open in the mornings for coffee and pastries.

Hope & Anchor

A good pub and pub garden offering hearty British pub grub from locally sourced suppliers, with a large range of ale, lager, wine, spirits and soft drinks and a short 3-minute walk from the cottage.

The Quarryman (Blacks Head)

A cosy pub with log burners, up to 6 cask ales and great wines, situated in the Market Place, and often with live music from local musicians.

The Dining Room Community Restaurant

A great choice for a full English, lunches and afternoon teas and located in Waltham House opposite the Wirksworth Memorial Hall & Farmers Market.
